SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – Behind four strong singles showings and a team effort to win the doubles point, the Converse University women's tennis team (8-13, 3-6 Conference Carolinas) won a 5-2 victory over the Francis Marion Patriots (7-10, 3-6 Conference Carolinas).

Graduate Tonya Glogowski-Watson and sophomore Lais Martins took a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. With the doubles point coming down to No. 2 doubles, sophomore Khushi Kharb and senior Natalie White won a 7-6 gauntlet, taking the tiebreaker 7-3.

Kharb rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Laurel Maynor won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles to put the Valkyries one point away from taking the match.

Glogowski-Watson took the match with a 7-6(3), 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. Martins rounded out the match with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.
