Furumaki Takes No. 2 Singles Against Nationally-Ranked Mount Olive

SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – Competing against their third nationally-ranked opponent of the season and second in their last five matches, the Converse University men's tennis team (8-8, 3-4 Conference Carolinas) fell to the No. 22 Mount Olive Trojans 4-1 Friday afternoon at the Rose.

Mount Olive swept the doubles point and then won the first three singles matches giving them the four points needed to capture the match.

With the match decided, Furumaki initially fell in his first set 6-3. He rebounded and won sets two and three 6-3, 6-2. It was the final singles match of the afternoon. No. 1 and No. 5 singles were left unfinished.

The Valkyries welcome the Francis Marion Patriots to the Rose for senior day later this morning, Saturday, April 20. The match is set to begin at 11 A.M.
