FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.  – Despite opening up the match by taking the double's point, the Converse University women's tennis team (5-6, 0-1 Conference Carolinas) dropped their first conference matchup of the season against the Emmanuel Lions (5-6, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) by a final score of 5-2.

Graduate student Tonya Glogowski-Watson and sophomore Lais Martins cruised to a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Khushi Kharb and senior Natalie White followed suit with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, giving Converse the opening point of the match.

Glogowski-Watson was the sole Valkyrie to win her singles match, winning 6-2 in straight sets at No. 2 singles.

In what ended up being the deciding court for the match, sophomore Sofia Giraldo-Jimenez forced a three-set match against her opponent, but ultimately fell to the Lion.

The Valkyries return to the courts on Saturday, March 23 as they continue Conference Carolinas play against Belmont Abbey at the Sally Abney Rose Complex. The match is set to begin at 2 P.M.
