SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – Battling their first nationally-ranked opponent of the season, the Converse University women's tennis team (5-5) fell 6-1 to the Georgia College Bobcats (8-6).

Sophomore Lais Martins and graduate student Tonya Glogowski-Watson captured a narrow 7-6 victory at No. 2 doubles, but with the Bobcats taking the matches at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, Georgia College secured the doubles point.

Martins won the sole singles match against the Bobcats. She won her first set 7-5 and, after falling in set two, won a super-set 11-9.

The Valkyries return to the courts on Wednesday, March 20 as they head to Franklin Springs, Ga. to take on the Emmanuel Lions at 2 P.M.
