Men’s Tennis Narrowly Falls To Bobcats

SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – Despite falling in the doubles point, the Converse University men's tennis team (5-2) fell 4-3 to the Georgia College Bobcats (4-8), winning all three of the odd-numbered singles matches.

Sophomore Stanley Waters and junior Cameron Davies took the match at No. 3 doubles 6-4 to kick off the day, but the Valkyries fell at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, and Georgia College secured the doubles point.

Freshman Manuel Roncero won his fourth consecutive singles match taking No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0.

Junior Marty Letessier took No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-4, giving the Valkyries a 2-1 advantage. Waters was the next to finish, taking No. 1 singles. After falling 6-2 in the first set, Waters bounced back and won the next two sets 6-4, 6-3.

Needing just one of the even-numbers singles matches, the Valkyries came up short and fell 4-3.

The Valkyries return to the courts on Friday, March 15 as they host Limestone at 2:30 P.M.
