Hailey Obenchain got the scoring started with an unassisted goal at the 13:57 mark of the period. A few moments later, Samantha Newton tied the game at one with an unassisted goal of her own. The Valkyries came alive the rest of the period, as Obenchain completed a first quarter hat trick at the 35 second mark of the period.
