GAFFNEY, S.C.  – With singles wins at No. 5 and No. 6, the Converse University women's tennis team (2-4) fell to the Limestone Saints (5-2) 5-2 Thursday afternoon at the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center in Gaffney.

Limestone opened up by winning the doubles point, but Converse took a win at No. 3 doubles. Senior Alexandra Romero and sophomore Lais Martins took the 6-4 decision, giving Romero her first dual-match victory of the season.

Martins took a 6-4, 6-2 two-set match at No. 5 singles to give Converse their first point of the match. Sophomore Laurel Maynor captured her first dual-match victory of the season by winning 6-3 in straight sets at No. 6 singles.

The Valkyries lost at the other four singles courts and fell 5-2.

The Valkyries return to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 24 as they head to Columbia to take on the Benedict Tigers at 10 A.M.
