SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Two members of the Converse University women's basketball team (1-5, 0-2 Conference Carolinas) posted double-digit scoring efforts against the Emmanuel University Lions (2-4, 1-1 Conference Carolinas) but it was not enough as the Lions won the game 68-61 Tuesday night at the Weisiger Center.

Senior guard Elisa Solé Sanchez led the team with 19 points. She went 6-8 from the field and 4-5 from three-point range. The Barcelona native was perfect, 3-3 from the charity stripe. Graduate guard Jordan Brown was the team's second-leading scorer with 10 points. She was also the team's second-leading rebounder with five boards.

Converse held Emmanuel to just one field goal in the first quarter, leaving them with a 6.25% shooting percentage from the field in the opening 10 minutes. That amounted to just five points in the opening frame from the Lions as Converse took an 8-5 lead into the second quarter. 

Emmanuel outpaced Converse by just one point each in both the second and third quarters, cutting the lead down to one point heading into the final quarter.

The Lions made 16 of their 17 free throws in the fourth quarter, making up the gap and giving them the 68-61 victory over Converse.

After the Thanksgiving break, Converse will be back on the court on Wednesday, Dec. 4 to take on the ninth-ranked team in the southeast region, the Augusta Jaguars. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 P.M.
