FLORENCE, S.C. – Facing the No. 7 ranked team in the southeast region proved too much for the Converse University women's basketball team (1-4, 0-1 Conference Carolinas) despite three Valkyries scoring double-digit points against the Francis Marion Patriots (4-1, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) as Converse fell 88-66 on the road.

Junior Alexis Becker led the team with 17 points. Fellow junior Bentlee Chockley posted 13 and graduate student Jordan Brown posted 12. Two other Valkyries posted at least eight points including sophomore Olivia Martin who also snagged five rebounds. Brown and junior Darling Harris led the team in rebounding with six.

Brown also led the team in assists with five and was tied for the team lead in steals with three.

Converse looked good out of the gate and were up by as many as five points, 12-7 with 6:2- remaining in the first quarter, and finished the first quarter up 18-17. The Valkyries fell behind just 10 seconds into the second quarter and were unable to keep pace with the Patriots, never again finding a lead in the game.

The Valkyries are back on the court on Tuesday, Nov. 26 as they host the Emmanuel Lions at the Weisiger Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 P.M.
