BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The second-seeded Converse University men's soccer team's (9-1-8, 6-0-6 Conference Carolinas) quest for a third-consecutive Conference Carolinas title game appearance was foiled with a 0-0 draw to the third-seeded Francis Marion Patriots (9-5-6, 6-3-2 Conference Carolinas) as the Patriots took the penalty shootout 4-2.

Freshman Amro Shibeika had the Valkyries' only shot of the game and it came in double overtime. The Patriots attempted seven, all during regulation.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mateo Sanchez posted three saves in the draw.

The teams each made their first and third PKs in the shootout while missing their second. The fourth penalty kick proved the difference as the lower-seeded Patriots netted that and their fifth, putting the game out of reach for the Valkyries.

With their run in the conference tournament foiled once again by penalty kicks, the Valkyries await their NCAA Tournament fate during the NCAA DII Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 P.M. The show will air live on the front page of NCAA.com
