SPARTANBURG, S.C. – With three players scoring double-digit points, the Converse University women's basketball team (1-2) defeated the Winston-Salem State Rams (1-3) by a final score of 67-56 Friday night at the Weisiger Center.

Junior Bentlee Chockley led the Valkyries in scoring with 12 points. Graduate student Jordan Brown and junior Alexis Becker both were the team's second-leading scorer with 11 points. Brown also led the Valkyries in rebounding with eight. Senior Zariyah Washington had six rebounds.

The Valkyries outscored the Rams in each of the first three quarters, building up enough of a lead that a 15-11 advantage in the final 10 minutes wasn't enough to overcome the earlier deficit.

Six different Valkyries all led the team with one each.

After a few early lead changes, the Valkyries took the lead with 5:13 remaining in the first quarter and never looked back.

The Valkyries are back on the court on Monday, Nov. 19 as they host the Elizabeth City State Vikings at 5 P.M.
