MARS HILL, N.C. – Despite outshooting the Mars Hill Lions (2-0) in the first half of their Wednesday night matchup, the Converse University women's soccer team (0-1-1) dropped their first road game of the season 1-0. The lone goal of the match came in the 84th minute for Mars Hill.

Junior forward Ellie Gore led the Valkyries in shots and shots on goals. All five of the Bakersfield native's shots were on goal. Three other members of the purple and gold recorded one shot on goal each. 

Freshman goalkeeper Allie Nepomuceno recorded four saves in the loss.

The Valkyries are back on the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 9 as they head to Pembroke, North Carolina to take on the defending Conference Carolinas tournament champion UNC Pembroke Braves at 1 p.m.
