HARTSVILLE, S.C.– The Converse University field hockey team defeated Coker University 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon at the Coker Athletic Fields.
With the win the Valkyries improve to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in South Atlantic Conference action, meanwhile the Cobras fall to 1-7 overall and 1-7 SAC play. The win also secures the Valkyries fourth straight win over the Cobras.

In the second quarter the Valkyries continued to shot on the Cobras goal, but it was Coker who was able to find the back of the net on their lone shot attempt of the period. Going into the halftime break the Valkyries held a 2-1 lead over the Cobras.
Coming out of the halftime intermission, Coker scored a pair of goal less than five minutes into the third quarter. The quick barrage of goals by the Cobras offense gave them their first lead of the match at 3-2. The lead was short lived, as

Keira van Zyl for the game tying goal.
The game went into the final quarter of action knotted at three goals each. With just nine minutes to play in regulation,
Leonoor de Vreugd found
Brooklyn Widdess for the game-winning goal and the Valkyries held on for the victory.
