TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Converse softball team split a pair of road games against North Greenville on Tuesday afternoon at Jan McDonald Field. The Valkyries won the first game of the afternoon 2-1, before falling 7-0 to the Crusaders in the second contest.
Game 1 Notes:
Top 4 –
Karleigh Crabill drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Ryan Finazzo pinch hit for Maddie Modica and singled through the left side of the infield. Following a
Serrah Ballard strikeout, Finazzo stole second to put a pair of Valkyrie runners in scoring position.
Makenna Hill roped a single through the right side of the infield and the Valkyries took their first lead of the game at 1-0.
Top 6 – Finazzo doubled to right center field on the first pitch she saw and advanced to third on a wild pitch. One batter later
AJ Albano reached on a fielding error by the shortstop as Finazzo came in to score the insurance run for the Valkyries offense.
Bottom 6
th – Green drew a four pitch walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Two batters later and Bishop hit an RBI single to second base to score Green.
Game 2 Notes:
In the second game North Greenville outscored Converse 7-0 and out hit the Valkyries 9-2.
Notables:
Finazzo – 2-for-2 with a run scored
Hill – 1-for-3 with an RBI
Dichio (2 Game total) – 9.0 Innings Pitched, 3 runs, 2 earned runs, 4 walks, 2 strikeouts. 2-for-5 at the plate.
Next Up:
The Valkyries will stay on the road this weekend as they travel to Southern Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. in Central, S.C.
