SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University lacrosse team fell 15-10 to Barton College on Saturday afternoon at Weisiger Stadium.

With the loss Converse falls to 8-7 overall and 5-4 in Conference Carolinas action this season, while Barton improves to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in Conference Carolinas play. Obenchain once again led the offense with a four-point performance, both Brenna Everette and Karter Lauer finished second on the team with a trio of points each. Lauer led the team with a hat-trick, while Obenchain led the team with a trio of assists against the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs came out of the gates on fire in the opening quarter as they outscored Converse 8-1. The Valkyries withstood the early firepower and began to chip away at Barton's lead starting in the second quarter. In the second frame Obenchain contributed on all three Valkyrie goals, on the first two goals of the period Obenchain assisted Everette and Lauer. On the final goal of the second quarter, Obenchain scored her first goal of the match. The Valkyries went into the halftime break down 10-4.

In the third quarter, Converse began to make their move with three consecutive goals by Ryleigh Schaeffer, Lauer and Cassidy O'Neill. The quick offensive outburst put the Valkyries back within striking distance at 11-7. A few moments later, Barton countered with a pair of goals of their own to build upon their lead at 13-7. During the final quarter of play the two teams each scored a pair and the Valkyries late rally fell short against the Bulldogs.
