MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Converse University Lacrosse team got off to a hot start and never looked back as they coasted to an 18-12 win over Chowan University on Saturday afternoon.

Converse improves to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in Conference Carolinas action this season. This is the first time the Valkyries have won at least three games in a season since 2019 and the first time since 2021 that Converse has started 1-0 in conference play. Meanwhile, Chowan falls to 0-4 overall on the season and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas play.

Just seconds into the game, Rhianna Warner found Brenna Everette for the first goal of the game. Five minutes later, freshman Gencie Coan found fellow freshman Karter Lauer for the Valkyries second goal of the game. Chowan then scored back-to-back goals to tie the game up at two.

Converse then scored five straight goals from Warner, O'Neill, Coan and Everette and held a 7-2 advantage going into the second quarter. O'Neill scored in the opening minutes of the second quarter and Valkyries extended their lead to 8-2. Chowan then countered with three straight goals and the Valkyries clung to an 8-5 advantage.

Everette, Obenchain, O'Neill and Schaeffer scored six consecutive goals to end the half, as they went into the intermission break up 14-5. In the second half the Valkyries were outscored 7-4 in the final two quarters of action, but despite the Hawks best efforts they ran out of time to complete the comeback.
