SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University softball team dropped a pair of games to the Emmanuel Lions on Tuesday afternoon. The 7-1 and 7-0 losses move the Valkyries to 12-20 overall and 3-5 in Conference Carolinas play while the Lions move to 18-14 overall and 7-3 in Conference Carolinas action.
Game 1 Notes:
Katelynn Tuxbury scored the lone run for Converse in the bottom of the 7
th inning as she advanced home on a passed ball. Four Valkyries recorded hits and stolen bases in game one and
Serrah Ballard pitched all seven innings.
Game 2 Notes:
The Lions had a big fifth inning as Kyna Cheney homered, giving Emmanuel the 5-0 lead before adding two more runs in the top of the sixth. Again, four Converse players recorded hits as
Chesney Miles had the only stolen base for the Valkyries.
Rylee Summers pitched all seven innings.
Next Up:
Converse will head to North Carolina to face UNC Pembroke on Saturday and Mount Olive on Sunday.
