SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's tennis team fell 4-3 to North Greenville on Saturday afternoon at the Converse University tennis courts.
Converse falls to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas play, while North Greenville improves to 2-8 overall and 1-1 in Conference Carolinas action. The loss on Saturday snapped a four-match winning streak by Converse dating back to the 2018 season.
In the doubles portion of the match the Valkyries dominated with wins at the No. 2 and No.3 doubles flights with relative ease. At the No.1 doubles court, the Valkyries top tandem of

Khushi Kharb improved to 6-3 overall on the season with a 7-6 (7-2) win over the Crusaders top pair to complete the double sweep for Converse.
In singles action,
Lais Martins picked up her third win of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 6 singles court. The win gave the Valkyries an early 2-0 lead on the Crusaders. North Greenville picked up their first win of the match at the No. 4 singles court and they tied the match at 2-2 following a loss by the Valkyries Kharb at the No. 2 flight.
Luiza Estrada put the Valkyries back on top with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 5 singles court. Glogowski-Watson lost a three-set battle at the No.1 singles court which put the Valkyries in a 3-3 tie with North Greenville.
Sofia Giaraldo-Jimenez lost the opening set at the NO. 3 singles court 7-5, in the second set it appeared that the match would head to a third set with Giaraldo-Jimenez up 5-2. North Greenville's Naomi Sakakibara kept hanging around and eventually forced a tiebreak with Giaraldo-Jimenez. The Valkyries lost in the tiebreak and gave North Greenville their first conference win of the season.
The Converse University women's tennis team will have a week off before playing both Lander and USC Sumter next Saturday in Greenwood, S.C.
