SPARTANBURG, S.C. – It may have taken over five hours to play but the Converse University women's tennis team completed the season sweep of Mars Hill on Saturday afternoon at the Converse University Tennis Courts.
In doubles action, the Valkyries top tandem of
Tonya Glogowski-Watson and
Khushi Kharb defeated the Mars Hill duo of Amanda Kadiri and Elana Mackey 6-3. The Valkyries No. 3 doubles duo lost to force a tiebreak at the No. 2 doubles court. The Valkyries No. 2 duo of
Marleen Prinz and
Lais Martins secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Mars Hill.
Converse went up 2-0 in the match after Martins made quick work of her opponent on the No. 5 court. Mars Hill gained their first point of the match with a win at the No. 1 singles flight, but the Valkyries went back up 3-1 after Prinz rallied from a set down to win at the No. 3 court.
Kharb clinched the match for the Valkyries with a three-set win over her opponent at the No. 2 singles flight. On the final two courts of the evening,
Luiza Estrada forced the No. 4 singles flight to go to a third set tiebreak before falling to her opponent and
Sofia Giaraldo-Jimenez fell in a second set tiebreak to finish the match.
