Defense Prevails as Women’s Soccer Draws with Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. – In the team's final Conference Carolinas Northwest division matchup of the season, the Converse University women's soccer team (4-7-4, 2-6-3 Conference Carolinas) drew with the Lees-McRae Bobcats (3-7-4, 3-3-4 Conference Carolinas) 0-0 on Tuesday night. The teams secured a tie for third place in the Northwest division with the tie.

The Valkyries attempted two shots during the contest, both of which were on goal: one in the 32nd minute by sophomore midfielder Jasmine Hernandez and one in the 68th minute by fellow sophomore midfielder Raegan Cash. Neither shot made it past the Bobcat's keeper.

Freshman goalkeeper Allie Nepomuceno recorded four saves and completed her fifth clean sheet of the season. She leads Conference Carolinas in total shutouts and shutouts per game, 0.385.

Converse wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 28 as they head to Central, South Carolina to take on the Southern Wesleyan Warriors at 1 p.m.
