Women’s Soccer Falters At Belmont Abbey

Belmont, N.C. – The Converse University women's soccer team's (4-6-3, 2-5-2 Conference Carolinas) efforts to claim sole possession of second place in the Conference Carolinas northwest division fell short on Tuesday night as they fell 4-0 to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders (7-2-4, 5-1-3 Conference Carolinas).

After the Crusaders started off with a goal just five minutes into the match, freshman forward Hayley Forbes took the Valkyries' first shot of the match in the 25th minute. After Belmont Abbey added a second goal in the 35th minute, Converse entered the break down two goals.

In the 48th minute, sophomore midfielder recorded the Valkyries' first and only shot on goal of the night. She took a second shot two minutes later but it was blocked.

Junior forward Kiersten Schrawyer took Converse's final shot in the 54th minute but it sailed wide left. Belmont Abbey added two goals to bring the game to its final score of 4-0.

The Valkyries are back home one final time for the 2023 season as they host the University of Mount Olive Trojans for senior day at Weisiger Stadium. The game is set to kickoff at 2 p.m.
