NEWBERRY, S.C. – In the team's first and only dual match of the fall season, the Converse University men's tennis team (0-1) fell to the Newberry College Wolves (1-0) 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in Newberry.

Junior Leopold Morel and sophomore Marty Letessier claimed victory at No. 1 doubles by an impressive 6-2 score. The Valkyries came close to claiming the point as Sophomore Stanley Waters and junior Cameron Davies took their match to a decisive 13th game, but fell in that tiebreaker with a heart-breaking 12-10 loss.

Freshman Takuma Furumaki continued his impressive fall campaign with a three-set victory at No. 2 singles, 7-5,2-6,10-8.

The Wolves claimed the other five singles matches and took the match 6-1.

The Valkyries return to the courts in the spring for their championship season.
