PEMBROKE, N.C. – In a road game at UNC Pembroke on Wednesday evening, the Converse women's basketball was unsuccessful in their efforts against the Braves. The Valkyries came up short, 77-44, dropping them to 1-12 overall and 1-6 in Conference Carolinas action while UNC Pembroke advances to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in Conference Carolinas play.
Zahra Cross,
Sydney Wilson and
Colbie Perry each tallied up nine points which helped in the Valkyries attempt against the Braves.
Jordan Brown and
Anna Cary each recorded five rebounds with Cross and Wilson following with four rebounds apiece.
The Valkyries started off slow, only scoring three points in the first quarter before bouncing back in the second quarter with 16 points, however, a 40-point half from the Braves would not be enough for Converse to come back from in the second half. In an effort to deplete the deficit, Converse scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, in the final two quarters while UNC Pembroke scored 17 points in the third quarter and 16 points in the fourth quarter.
