SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's soccer team picked up their second win of the season on Wednesday night as they defeated Shaw University 2-0 on the Valkyries home turf. Converse moves to 2-1 overall while the Bears fall to 2-2.
 
Gero Wolters led the Valkyries with four shots on the night while playing all 90 minutes while Sinan Kilincarslan, Jaxon Kenne and Kyle Lewis all followed with two shots each.
 
In the first half, Converse outshot Shaw 5-2 with shots coming from Kilincarslan, Wolters and Lewis. One of Kiliancarlsan's shots was the first goal of the game for the Valkyries. Shaw's shots came from Kyle Hatmaker and Zamal Mallebranche.
 
Moving into the second half, the Converse defense held the Bears shot less while the Valkyries took nine shots. One went in from Jaxon Keene to make the final score 2-0. Shaw keeper Max Sine made two saves during the second half while David Windmiller for Converse did not have to make any thanks to the Valkyries' stout defense.
