MANCHESTER, NH – For the second consecutive day No. 10 Converse University showed off their high-powered offense against an opponent, today the Valkyries defeated Southern New Hampshire 5-1 for their second win of the season.
Today's victory marks the programs first ever 2-0 start to a season. Although they did not complete the clean sheet, the Valkyries defense held their opponent to just one shot for the second day in a row. As a team, Converse outshot Southern New Hampshire 18-1 and attempted 14 corners in the match.
Sophomore forward
Lotte Kanters picked up where she left off yesterday, the Dutch native picked up her first goal of the game with three minutes to go in the opening quarter. In the second quarter,
Emily Whitlow and
Kilee Bradeen each recorded their second goals of the season. Converse headed to the locker room with a 3-0 advantage over Southern New Hampshire.
In the second half the Valkyries continued to put on the pressure as Kanters scored her second goal of the game. Last season, Kanters tied for the team lead with eight goals, this weekend the sophomore has accumulated five goals in two days. Just two minutes later Bradeen showed that she could be a reliable scoring threat for the Valkyries with her second goal of the contest.
With just three minutes to go in the third period the Valkyries allowed their first goal of the season to Bernardita Diaz De Vivar. Both teams were scoreless in the fourth period.
