SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse University's men's soccer team captured their first win of the 2022 season as they defeated Montreat College 6-0 in their season home opener. Six different Valkyries scored as the men outshot the Cavaliers 25-1. Converse moves to 1-0 overall as Montreat falls to 0-2 on the season.

An early shot in the first minute of the game by Sinan Kilincarslan would set the tone of the game as a shot by Feliz Frenz in the second minute would follow. Johannes Haden took a shot in the sixth minute before Gero Wolters scored the first goal of the 2022 season for Converse in the eighth minute from a penalty kick. Sergi Quixal took a shot in the 14^th minute followed by a goal from Hayden Gensler, assisted by Quixal, to make it a 2-0 game.
Haden (17^th minute), Tobias Bruecher (20^th minute), Jaxon Keene (22^nd minute), Kilincarslan (24^th minute), Frenz (28^th minute) and Joel Houston (29^th minute) each got shots off before the third goal of the game came from Houston, assisted by Keene, in the 30^th minute. In the last 10 minutes of the first half, Quixal, Ricky Cardozo and Frenz each got a shot off.

Jayson Frink took his first shot of the season during the 54^th minute of the game to open up the second half of play. Almost 10 minutes later, Maximilian Seiwald scored the fourth goal of the game off a penalty kick in the 63^rd minute. Jonas Larsson got his name mentioned as he scored the fifth goal of the game in the 69^th minute, assisted by Kyle Lewis. Lewis took a shot of his own in the 71^st minute and Gensler took a shot at goal in the 73^rd minute. Felix (75^th minute) took yet another shot before Owen Collins scored his first career goal in the 78^th minute. Freshmen Mike Dean and Mikey Jensen each took shots in the final minutes of the game.

Frenz led the team with four shots taken on the night while playing all 90 minutes.
