SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University softball team honored its two seniors,
Daija Irizarry and
Brooklyn McElrath, prior to their last games of the 2022. The Valkyries ultimately dropped both games to UNC Pembroke 8-0 and 16-7.

- Bottom 4 – Down 5-0 to UNC Pembroke, it was time for Converse to put runs on the board, and they delivered. Belle Roper started off the hot inning by singling to center field while advancing Griffis to second after she walked. Aaliyah Newman followed by singling to right field which pushed Griffis to third and Roper to second. Brooke Scruggs also singled to right field while Griffis and Roper both crossed home to give the Valkyries two runs. Maddie Modica also singled, allowing Newman to make it a 5-3 game, still in the Braves favor. Ballard cranked out another single, pushing Modica to second and Scruggs home. Modica scored the tying run for the Valkyries off of McElrath's single to make it a 5-5 game.
- Top 5 – The Braves answered with an offensive burst of their own, scoring 11 runs in the inning.
- Bottom 5 – Griffis and Roper were able to score runs for the Valkyries to finish the game with a final score of 16-7.
- Irizarry pitched 3.1 innings with one strikeout, Emily Ingle (0-8) pitched 1.1 innings with one strikeout, Belle Roper saw three batters and Serrah Ballard pitched 0.1 innings.
