SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's lacrosse team fell 19-2 to Newberry on Saturday afternoon at Hayden Abney Fulp Field inside Weisiger Stadium.

Converse (0-10) got off to a slow start in the opening period as Newberry (10-2) rattled off five goals in the first five minutes of the game against the Valkyries. Libby Stevens (Spartanburg, S.C.) scored the Valkyries first goal of the game at the 7:30 mark of the first quarter. Converse went into the second quarter trailing 7-1.

Following a goalie switch at the start of the second quarter, freshman goalkeeper Regan Collins (Spartanburg, S.C.) slowed down the Wolves offensive attack in the second quarter. Allowing just three goals in the period, the Valkyries went into the halftime break trailing 10-1.

In the third quarter the Wolves scored six goals and held the Valkyries scoreless for the second consecutive quarter. Cassidy O'Neill opened up the fourth quarter with a goal, giving her a team high 27 goals on the season. Newberry rounded out the fourth period by scoring a trio of goals against the Valkyries defense.
