SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After returning home from Bristol, Tenn. the Converse softball team droppped another two games, this time to the North Greenville Crusaders by scores of 14-4 and 9-0.
Game 1: North Greenville 14-4 Converse
Game 2: North Greenville 9-0 Converse
Records: Converse (1-43, 0-20 Conference Carolinas), North Greenville (19-23, 11-7 Conference Carolinas)
Game 1 Notes:
- Bottom 1 – The Valkyries got three runs on the board first to take an early 3-0 lead over the Crusaders. Both Brooklyn McElrath and Grace McKinney got on base by walks and would advance to the next base after Emily Ingle lined out to first base. Ryan Finazzo then singled to center field which allowed McElrath to score and for McKinney to advance to third and score on a passed ball.
- Bottom 5 – In an effort to take over the 11-3 lead and extend the game, McKinney was able to score another run after reaching first base on a fielder's choice, advancing to second on Ingle's single, and scoring on Finazzo's single.
- North Greenville took game one 14-4.
- Maggie Griffis pitched 1.2 innings with two strikeouts, Serrah Ballard pitched 1.2 innings with one strikeout, and Belle Roper pitched 2.2 innings with one strikeout.
Game 2 Notes:
- The Crusaders scored five runs in the top of the second, one run in the top of the fourth, and two runs in the top of the sixth to win game two 9-0.
- Ballard pitched 2.2 innings, Belle Roper pitched two innings, and Ingle pitched 1.1 innings.
