DUE WEST, S.C. – On Wednesday night, the Converse women's basketball team pulled out a last second 69-68 win on the road against the Erskine Flying Fleet.
Converse (4-20, 3-17 Conference Carolinas) would outscore Erskine (1-23, 1-21 Conference Carolinas) 27-10 in the fourth quarter to earn their fourth win of the season.
First Quarter:
- The Valkyries would be the first to put points up on the scoreboard by a free throw from Alisa Davenport.
- A three-pointer late in the quarter by Alliee Pattillo would put Converse up by five points.
- Continuing to switch points back and forth for the rest of the quarter, a last second deep three from the Flying Fleet would bring Erskine within three points of Converse's 12-9 lead.
Second Quarter:
- Starting the quarter off on the right foot, Erskine would score two three-pointers in a row to get the 15-12 lead.
- Making up the points and regaining the lead, Zahra Cross, Lindsey Hardin and Daven West would each contribute two points to the Valkyries overall score of 18-15.
- The Flying Fleet would go on a run, scoring 12 unanswered points. Going into halftime, Converse would trail 31-25.
Third Quarter:
- The Valkyries would score the first points of the second half as they would be on the hunt to make up some lost ground.
- Erskine would quickly answer with eight points.
- Continuing to outscore Converse, Erskine would go into the final quarter of play with a 58-42 lead.
Fourth Quarter:
- Coming out hot, the Valkyries would score the first points of the quarter and then go on a 17-0 run to tie the game up at 61.
- A three-pointer by Mariah Moody and three free throws from Anzya Cook would give the Flying Fleet the 67-61 lead.
- An Amaia Parkins free throw with 42 seconds left would bring the Valkyries within two points of the lead.
- A final layup from Pattillo would give the Converse their fourth win of the season with a score of 69-68.
Lindsey Hardin led Converse with 18 points and seven rebounds.
Jordan Brown followed closely behind with 15 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and four steals. Cross and Pattillo both finished the game with 11 points each.
Cook led the Flying Fleet in points (22), rebounds (8) and assists (6). Kitara Henry followed with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Converse women's basketball will travel to Central, S.C. on Saturday afternoon to take on the Southern Wesleyan Warriors.
