WILSON, N.C. – The Converse Valkyries dropped a road game to the Barton Bulldogs 68-45 on Saturday afternoon. The Valkyries fall to 1-10 overall and 1-5 in Conference Carolinas action while the Bulldogs advance to 2-8 overall and 2-2 in Conference Carolinas action.
The Bulldogs put points up on the board first but
Sydney Wilson and
Zahra Cross worked together to give Converse an early lead. Barton fought hard to regain a four-point lead before Colby Perry chipped away at it for the Valkyries. With just under two minutes remaining,
Jordan Brown tied the game up at 14 and Cross captured the lead for the Valkyries with a three-pointer. A layup from
Daven West would send Converse into the second quarter with a 19-16 lead over Barton.
The lead would be taken away from the Valkyries as Lauren Walker's jumper would go in for the Bulldogs. Throughout the rest of the game, Barton outshot Converse 17-9 in the second quarter, 13-9 in the third quarter and 22-8 in the fourth quarter to pick up their second conference win of the season.
Wilson carried Converse, tallying 23 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal on the afternoon. Cross followed with eight points, three rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal, and
Maegan Barkley led the Valkyries in steals with three.

Converse will return home to the Weisiger Center on Monday at 2:00 p.m. to host St. Augustine's University.
