WILSON, N.C. – The Converse University men's basketball team scored 39 second half points on Saturday afternoon, but it was not enough as the Valkyries lost 75-66 to Barton College.
First Half Notes:
- Barton scored the first two baskets of the game, before Jordan Warlick made the first three-pointer of the game for Converse.
- The Bulldogs used a 15-0 run to take a 19-8 lead over the Valkyries and force Converse to use their first timeout of the half.
- Converse used a 7-4 run to pull back within a pair of possessions of the Bulldogs, but it was not enough as Barton went back to a double-digit lead moments later.
- Going into the halftime break the Valkyries trailed 44-27.
- Converse shot 45 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 66 percent from the free throw line.
Second Half Notes:
- Barton scored the first few points of the second half, before NyGel Boozer scored for the Valkyries with 18:33 to play in the period.
- For the entire period the Valkyries chipped away at the Bulldogs lead and with 40 seconds to play, Converse was back within 10-points of Barton.
- Converse outscored Barton 39-31 in the second half and shot 47 percent from the field, 20 from three-point range and 62 percent from the free-throw line.
