BELMONT, N.C. – The Converse University women's basketball team dropped their first Conference Carolinas game of the season to Belmont Abbey on Tuesday evening with the final score being 79-37. The Valkyries fall to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas play while the Crusaders improve to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in Conference Carolinas action.
The Crusaders outshot the Valkyries 64-20 through the first three quarters until Converse came back and outshot their opponent 17-15 in the final quarter. The fourth quarter was led by
Maegan Barkley who scored back-to-back three-pointers while
Alisa Davenport and
Zahra Cross each contributed their own three-pointers.
Cross led the Valkyries with nine points and one rebound. Davenport followed with seven points, one rebound and one steal.
Sydney Wilson led the team in rebounds (6),
Jordan Brown led in steals (2) and
Amaia Parkins led in blocks (2).
Next Up:
Converse will travel to Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference contest at 2:00 p.m.
