The Series
This will be the seventh meeting between Converse and Mount Olive dating back to 2019 and the first-time meeting in the South Atlantic Conference Championship Final. The overall series is tied at 3-3 between the two clubs with Mount Olive having won the last two meetings, including a 2-1 win over Converse at Weisiger Stadium earlier this season. At the time the Valkyries held the longest overall winning streak in the nation and the longest home winning streak in the nation at 10 games. Mount Olive is the only team to have ever beaten Converse on their home field since the Valkyries moved their games back on campus.
Converse Notes:
- Converse is 16-2 overall and 11-1 in South Atlantic Conference action this season. The Valkyries are coming off a 5-0 SAC Tournament Semifinals win over Lander on Friday night.
- The Valkyries scored all five goals in the second half against the Bearcats to advance to their second ever SAC Tournament Championship game. Catalina Pistaccio recorded her second hat trick of the season, while Lotte Kanters assisted on three goals and picked up a goal of her own a penalty stroke. Caroline Blair also picked up a goal and an assist in the win for the Valkyries on Friday evening.
- Lotte Kanters was named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, while Josephine Jense was named the South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Catalina Pistaccio and Luis Fasold joined Jense and Kanters on the All-Conference First Team, while Julia Matthijssen earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.
- Sophomore Forward Lotte Kanters currently leads the nation in the points per game (3.72) and goals per game (1.56). Luisa Fasold is second in the nation in assists per game (0.67).
- As a team the Valkyries are averaging 4.00 goals per game, 20.9 total shots per game, 13.7 shots on goal per game, and 3.11 assists per game.
- Kanters leads the team in goals (28), points (67), total shots (115), shots on goal (70) and game-winning goals (7).
- Pistaccio is second on the team in goals (14), points (38), total shots (90), shots on goal (56) and game-winning goals (5). Kilee Bradeen is third on the team with eight goals this season.
- Fasold leads the team with 12 assists on the year, Kanters is second on the team with 11 assists and Pistaccio is third on the team with 10 assists on the season.
- All four goalies have gotten to play for the Valkyries this year, with sophomore Anita Planella leading the team with 15 saves and four shutouts.
Mount Olive Notes:
- Mount Olive is 14-3 overall and 12-0 in South Atlantic Conference action this season. The Trojans have won 14-straight games with streaking starting on September 21st in a 2-1 win over Belmont Abbey at home.
- The Trojans currently have the longest winning streak in the nation in overall games (14), conference game (14).
- Mount Olive is coming off a 2-1 double overtime victory over Newberry in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament semifinals. Alisia Lovejoy scored the game-tying goal in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. Morgan Paterson scored the game-winning goal to send the Trojans to their first ever title game.
- Mount Olive is averaging 3.41 goals per game this season, 15.9 shots per game and 179 total shots on goal this season. The Trojans have also had 43 assists on goals this season.
- Nikki Bos leads the Trojans with 13 goals, 7 assists, 33 points, 46 total shots and 35 shots on goal. Morgan Paterson is second on the team with 9 goals and Avery Congleton is third on the team with 8 goals.
- Alanna Barrett has made every start in goal for the Trojans this season and made 38 saves on 114 shots faced.
