MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Converse University volleyball team went 0-2 this past weekend with a pair of losses to Barton and Chowan. With the loss the Valkyries have now lost six in a row dating back to September 23
rd.
Game One: Barton 3, Converse 1
- The Valkyries won the opening set 25-22 and hit .267 for the period and collected a game high 12 kills during the set.
- As a team the Valkyries recorded 53 points, 39 kills, 4 aces, 10 blocks, 37 assists and 56 digs in the match.
- Converse lost the second set 25-20, the third set 25-15 and the fourth set 25-21.
- Barton recorded double-digit kills in every set, but had 15 and 16 kills in both the third and fourth sets.
- Barton recorded 71 points, 54 kills, 8 aces, 9 blocks, 46 assists and 62 digs.
- Jasmine Finkley led the Valkyries in three different statistical categories: Kills (13), Aces (3) and blocks (7). Savannah Ducote led the team with 17 assists and Mackenzie Day posted a team high 14 digs.
- Lily Haaga led the Bulldogs attack with 14 kills, Madison Greene recorded 25 assists and Brooke Clute posted a team high 19 digs.
Game Two: Chowan 3, Converse 2
- The Valkyries won the opening set 25-20 and the fourth set 25-18 over the Hawks.
- Chowan picked up set victories in the second (25-23), third (25-12) and the fifth (15-13).
- Converse hit .371 in the opening set and recorded a match high 16 kills in the set. Chowan hit .522 in the third set and recorded a team high 14 kills.
- Converse recorded 68 points, 46 kills, 8 aces, 14 blocks, 43 assists and 95 digs.
- Chowan recorded 71 points, 57 kills, 9 aces, 5 blocks, 54 assists and 107 digs in the match.
- Jasmine Finkley led the team with 14 kills and 9 blocks. Evelyn Fitz and Savannah Ducote both picked up double-doubles in the loss. For Ducote she recorded a team high 21 assists and finished third on the team with 13 digs, while Fitz finished second on the team in kills (13) and digs (19).
- Mackenzie Day led the team in service aces (2) and digs (23).
- For Chowan Ellie Middleton and Anixa Rosa-Martinez both tied for the team lead in kills with 14.
- Alexa Woolson led the Hawks with 27 assists and Diana Rodriguez recorded 45 digs in the match.
