CENTRAL, S.C. – The Converse University volleyball team defeated Southern Wesleyan 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon at historic Tysinger Gymnasium.
With the win the Valkyries complete the season sweep over the Warriors for the second straight season. The Valkyries eight wins this season are also the most since a 10-win 2019 volleyball season.
Converse Notes
- The Valkyries recorded 55 points and 42 kills, as they hit .283 for the match against the Warriors. Converse tallied 15 kills in the third set to put the match away.
- Converse recorded 9 aces, 4 blocks, 39 assists and 55 digs in the match against Southern Wesleyan.
- Jasmine Finkley registered a team high 11 kills, Anna Rabon finished second on the team with 9 kills and Evelyn Fitz added 8 kills to finish third on the team.
- Savannah Ducote led the team with 17 assists, Mackenzie Shmucker finished second on the team with 16 assists, Evelyn Fitz led the team with 14 digs and Mackenzie Day recorded 11 digs in the win.
Southern Wesleyan Notes
- The Warriors recorded 38 points and 30 kills, while posting a .119 hitting percentage.
- Southern Wesleyan registered 4 aces, 4 blocks, 28 assists and 44 digs against the Valkyries.
- Emily Ellis led the team with 12 kills, Amber Bass posted 10 kills and Trinity Eichman finished with a trio of kills.
- Kali Letcher and Ashley Sexton tied for the team lead in assists with 13 against Converse. Amber Bass led the team with 15 digs and Emily Ellis recorded 6 digs in the loss.
