GAFFNEY, S.C. – The No. 7 Converse University Field Hockey team dominated Friday night's match from start to finish as they outshot Limestone 22-0 and picked up a 1-0 win over the Saints.
The raucous Saints crowd of 17 people did not deter the Valkyries as the Converse defense silenced the Saints offense throughout the night. The Valkyries offense got to work in the opening half as they peppered the Limestone goalie with shot-after-shot. Although it was a scoreless game at halftime the Valkyries had outshot Limestone 10-0 at the break.
The Valkyries offense continued to be aggressive in the second half as they attempted seven shots in the third quarter and five shots in the fourth quarter. Finally, with nine minutes remaining in the game,
Luisa Fasold found
Caroline Blair for the game-winner.
With the victory, the Valkyries complete the season sweep over the Saints for the second consecutive season.
