SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University volleyball team fell 3-1 to Lees-McRae (23-25, 25-16, 23-25, 22-25) on Saturday afternoon inside the Weisiger Center.
With the loss the Valkyries will have to wait yet another season to try and complete their first season sweep of the Bobcats since the 2013 season. On the positive side,
Evelyn Fitz,
Savannah Ducote and
Anna Rabon all recorded double-doubles against the Bobcats.
Converse Notes:
- Converse recorded 53 kills in the match and hit .178 for the game.
- The Valkyries recorded 10 total blocks, 47 assists, and 92 digs against the Bobcats.
- Three Valkyries ended the day in double figure kills, Jasmine Finkley (13), Fitz (11) and Rabon (10). Finkley had a team high 6 blocks, while Rabon led the team with a pair of service aces.
- Savannah Ducote led the team with 23 assists and Mackenzie Schmucker finished second on the team with 20 assists in the match. Mackenzie Day led the team with 29 digs, Rabon finished second with 18 digs and Fitz registered 17 digs in the loss.
Lees-McRae Notes:
- Lees-McRae registered 47 kills and posted a .109 hitting percentage against the Valkyries defense.
- The Bobcats recorded 6 aces, 7 total blocks, 45 assists and 71 digs in the match.
- Three Bobcats recorded double-digit kills against Converse, Sydney Stigler (14), Hailey Gilreath (11) and Julia Emore (11).
- Stigler also led the team with a trio of aces in the match. Destiny Holley led Lees-McRae with 5 total blocks, Madison Goins had a team high 23 assists and Bre Adamson had 25 digs in the win for the Bobcats.
