BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following an emotional home opening win on Saturday afternoon, the Converse University volleyball team was unable to take a set against the King Tornado on Sunday afternoon and fell 3-0 inside the Student Center Complex.
 
With the loss the Valkyries drop to 1-2 within Conference Carolinas play, while the Tornado improve to 2-0 in conference action.
 
Converse opened up the match on an 8-2 run behind a pair of kills by Anna Rabon and Jasmine Finkley. The Tornado's offense countered with a 5-0 spurt to gain momentum and pull within a single point of the Valkyries at 8-7. A few players later and another 4-0 run by the Tornado helped the home team take a 15-11 lead midway through the set. The Valkyries were unable to counter with a run of their own and the Tornado took the opening set 25-20.
 
King opened the second set on a 10-3 run and never looked back as they won the second set 25-13. In the third set the Valkyries found themselves down 17-4 early, before coming alive midway through the set. Converse pulled off a 9-1 run to get back in the set but ended up falling 25-19 in the final set.
 
Finkley led the Valkyries with 10 kills in the match, Rabon added seven kills and Kiara Cannon contributed six kills in the loss. Finkley, also led the team in blocks, while Savanah Ducote produced a team best 15 assists. Elizabeth Yohe registered 21 digs and Alyssa Graf added seven digs in the match.

Converse will be back in action next Friday evening at Southern Wesleyan. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
