HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Converse University field hockey team lost 2-1 in overtime to Coker on Sunday afternoon in Hartsville, S.C.
 
The Valkyries struck first in the 18^th minute of the contest when Mira Polzer found Lotte Kanters for the first goal of the game. Converse maintained their lead until the 35^th minute of the game, when Delaney Mitchell scored on penalty.
 
A pair of Valkyries picked up a pair green cards in the third and fourth quarter, but the game remained tied through the end of regulation. Then 38 seconds into the overtime period Rylie Cordrey scored the game winning goal for the Cobras.
 
Kanters led the Valkyries offense with five total shots and two shots on goal. Elizabeth Wypych and Luisa Fasold both finished second on the team with a trio shots in the contest. Ciriaca Petitto made a pair of saves on four shots faced in goal.  
 
First Half Stats:

• 18^th minute, Mira Polzer passes to Lotte Kanters for the first goal of the game.
• Converse outshot Coker 10-2 in the opening half but attempted just one corner.   

Second Half Stats:

• 35^th Delaney Mitchell scored on a penalty corner to tie the game at one.
• 42^nd minute, Emily Whitlow is given a green card.
• 53^rd minute, Julia Matthijssen receives a green card.
• Converse out shot Coker 9-8 in the second half, but Coker took 8 corners in the second half.
• 61^st minute Rylie Cordrey scores the game winner in overtime.

Next Up:
The Valkyries will look to bounce back against Limestone this coming Wednesday. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. in Gaffney, S.C.
