The Series
This is will be the eighth time in program history that Converse and Queens have met on the field. Queens is 6-1 all-time against the Valkyries but Converse is looking to end their five-game losing streak against the Royals. A win for Converse would give them their first ever win at Queens and it would be their first win in the series since 2017. The last time these two squads met, Queens walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Valkyries.
Converse Notes:
- The Valkyries are 1-3 overall this season and 1-1 in South Atlantic/Conference Carolinas play.
- Converse will look to kick a three-game losing streak that started with a September 7th trip to Belmont Abbey.
- Last time out, the Valkyries hung with one of the premier field hockey programs in the nation and fell by a final score of 3-1 to No. 6 Millersville.
- This season, Converse is averaging a goal a game and is taking just under 10 shots per contest. The Valkyries have attempted 25 corners this season and have committed 76 fouls so far.
- Converse has shown a lot of versatility and depth on the offensive side of the ball with four different goals scorers this season.
- Mira Polzer leads the team with three total points and is tied for the team lead with six total shots. Eryn Follett leads the team with five shots on goal and has one game-winning goal this season.
- All four goalies have seen action for the Valkyries this season with Anita Planella getting the start in the last two games.
Queens Notes:
- Queens is 2-3 overall this season and 1-2 in conference play this season.
- The Royals are coming off a 3-0 loss to Limestone this past Wednesday. Last Sunday, the Royals defeated Coker 3-1 to earn their second win of the season.
- As a team the Royals are averaging two goals per contest, 18 total shots and have attempted 54 corners on the year.
- Gabe Lechner is the top offensive threat for the Royals this season. Lechner leads the team in goals scored (5), points (10), total shots (19), shots on goal (11) and game winners (1).
- Molly Walter is second on the team in points (5) and leads the team in total assists (3).
- Marlee Geppert has started all five games in goal for the Royals and has made 13 saves on 29 shots faced.
