Volleyball Weekend Recap: Valkyries Fall to Barton and Chowan

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University volleyball team went 0-2 this past weekend with a pair of losses to Barton and Chowan.
 
Barton Match Notes:
  • The Valkyries won the opening set 25-14 and hit .273 as a team with 10 total kills.
  • Barton won the next three sets 25-14, 25-22, 25-22.
  • As a team the Valkyries best set was the third set when they hit .324 as a team with 14 total kills.
  • Elizabeth Coffey and Anna Rabon tied for the team lead with 10 kills in the match against the Bulldogs.
  • Savannah Ducote led the team with 33 assists, while Elizabeth Yohe led the team with 25 digs. Kelsey Elliott added 11 digs on the evening for the Valkyries.
 
Chowan Match Notes:  
  • Although the Valkyries lost in straight sets, their best set of the afternoon came in set two. Converse hit .186 as a team and recorded 13 kills in the period.
  • The Valkyries once again out blocked their opponent with 8 against the Hawks.
  • Jasmine Finkley led the team with nine kills in the match, Kiara Cannon and Ansley Hodge both finished second on the team with eight kills.
  • Savannah Ducote ended the afternoon with a double-double (29 assists, 10 digs). Elizabeth Yohe led the team with 18 digs on the day and Mackenzie Day added 13 digs.
 
Next Up:
Converse will be back in action this Wednesday against Erskine at 7:00 p.m. The Valkyries will be celebrating senior night against the Flying Fleet.
