Women’s Basketball Weekend Recap: SAC/CC Challenge

HARROGATE, TENN. – The Converse University women's basketball team went 0-2 this weekend with an 82-52 loss to Lincoln Memorial on Friday night and a 96-56 loss to Limestone on Saturday afternoon.
 
Game One: Converse 52, Lincoln Memorial 82
  • The Valkyries shot 35 percent from the field, 35 percent from three-point range and 35 percent from the free throw line.
  • The Railsplitters shot 50 percent from the field, 34 percent from beyond the arch and 53 percent from the free throw line.
  • Eva Carballo led the Valkyries with 10-points and three steals in the loss to Lincoln Memorial. Keyshuna Fair and Alliee Patillo each scored nine points in the loss on Friday night.
  • Sydney Wilson and Jordan Brown tied for the team lead in rebounds with five each against the Railsplitters.
  • Lincoln Memorial had four players score double-figures, Irelynn Davisson (22-points), Shaquala Walton (14-points), Lauren Flowers (12-points) and Geovana Rios (10-points).
 
Game Two: Converse 56, Limestone 96
  • The Valkyries shot 36 percent from the field, 31 percent from three-point range and 59 percent from the free throw line.
  • The Saints shot 53 percent from the field, 41 percent from three-point range and 70 percent from the free throw line.
  • Sydney Wilson led the offense with 22-points on Saturday afternoon. Keyshuna Fair finished second on the team with 14-points and led the team with seven rebounds. Zahra Cross finished third on the team with nine points in the loss.
  • Five players scored in double-figures for the Saints on Saturday, Quin Byrd (22-points), Vonshayla Webb (14-points), Josie Long (11-points), Reagan McCray (10-points) and Reagan Kargo (10-points).
 
Next Up:
The Valkyries will have a few days off before traveling to Greenville, S.C. on Wednesday evening. Converse and Furman will tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
