FLORENCE, S.C. – The Converse University volleyball team went 0-2 this past weekend with road losses to Francis Marion and Erskine.
The Valkyries are now 3-13 overall and 3-4 in Conference Carolinas action. While the Valkyries have played great at home this season, outside the friendly confines of Hannah Gymnasium the Valkyries have struggled. Converse is now 1-6 in true road games this season and 0-7 in neutral site games.
On Friday evening the Valkyries played one of the top-teams in the conference when they faced off against top-ranked Francis Marion. While on Saturday afternoon the Valkyries faced a more evenly matched Erskine squad in Due West, S.C.
Game One: Francis Marion 3, Converse 0
Game Two: Erskine 3, Converse 1
- Converse and Erskine battled for every point on Saturday afternoon, but it was the Flying Fleet who came away with the four-set victory over the Valkyries.
- The Valkyries hit a team best .222 in the second set to take their only set of the afternoon.
- Anna Rabon collected her fifth double-double of the season with a 14 kill, 12-dig performance against Erskine.
- Kiara Cannon and Ansley Hodge each added 7 kills in the loss to the Flying Fleet.
- Madison Gregory had a team high 21 assists, while Savannah Ducote added nine assists in the match.
- Yohe led the Valkyries in digs for the second straight game with 29 digs in the match. Mackenzie Day finished third on the team with 11 digs.
Next Up:
Converse will have a few days off before hosting King on Tuesday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
