TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Converse University men's soccer team fell 2-1 to North Greenville on Wednesday night at Pepsi Stadium.
For the first 22 minutes of action the two squads took turns feeling out the opposing teams defense. In the 23
rd minute Soto Kubo found a hole in the Valkyries defense and passed the ball over to Gareth Greene for the first goal of the game.
About 11 minutes later Renan Macuglia caught Valkyrie goalkeeper
David Windmiller off his line and scored from just outside the 18-yard box. The goal gave the Crusaders a 2-0 advantage going in the halftime break.
In the second half the Valkyries began to come alive and put pressure on the Crusaders backline. In the 55
th minute the Valkyries appeared to have a prime opportunity score but it was called back on an offsides call from the side referee. Then in the 83
rd minute of action
Tim Boeckstaens broke through the Crusaders defense and scored the Valkyries lone goal of the contest.

Jaxon Keene and
Hayden Gensler led the Valkyries with three total shots on the night. Boeckstaens led the team with a pair of shots on goal. Windmiller played all 90 minutes in goal for the Valkyries and made a team high six saves.

Converse will stay on the road this weekend and travel to Central, S.C. to battle Southern Wesleyan.
