Mark Rennix enters his seventh year with the Valkyries for the 2023-24 season. Rennix was named the Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach in September 2018. In July 2020, he was named the Head Cross Country Coach. Since taking over as Head Cross Country Coach, Rennix has coached 59 All-Conference Performers, the 2023 Women's Cross Country Championship, a pair of Women's Cross Country Runner-Up Finishes (2022, 2024), a Men's Cross Country Runner-Up Finish (2024), and a pair of Coach of the Year Awards (2023 Women, 2024 Men).

Prior to becoming a member of the Valkyries staff, Rennix was the Volunteer Assistant Track Coach at Spartanburg High School and then the Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach at USC Upstate. Mark ran collegiately at Upstate, where he helped lead the cross country team to back to back Atlantic Sun Conference Championships in 2011 and 2012.
Rennix graduated from USC Upstate in December of 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration before obtaining his Master’s in College Athletic Administration from Coker College in June of 2018. Mark has earned his USA Track and Field Levels I and II Certifications.
Mark currently resides in the Spartanburg area with his wife, Amanda and daughters, Ryan and Reese.
