SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse University Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Jenn Bell announced the hiring of Morgan Downey as the new head field hockey coach.
 
"I am excited to welcome Morgan Downey as our new head field hockey coach," Bell said. "She brings valuable head coaching experience from Coker University, and her focus on rebuilding our program will be instrumental, as we work to return our field hockey program to a level of competitive excellence on the field, while continuing our academic success. We're confident Morgan has the leadership and vision to get us there."

"I'm so grateful to be given this opportunity to contribute to this competitive program and make an impact on the growth of field hockey within the South. I'm looking forward to guiding the next generation of student-athletes on and off the field!"
 
Downey most recently coached at Coker from 2021-2023 and led the Cobras to a South Atlantic Conference Tournament appearance following the 2022 season. Prior to her time in the Palmetto State, Downey coached prep field hockey at North County High School (Glen Burnie, Md.) from 2017-2021.
