GREENEVILLE, TENN. – The Converse University Lacrosse team fell 16-8 on Tuesday evening to the Tusculum Pioneers.

With the loss, Converse drops to 1-2 overall on the season, while Tusculum improves to 2-1 on the season. The Valkyries fell behind 6-0 after the first 15 minutes of action.

Tusculum scored the first two goals of the game before Karter Lauer scored the first goal of the game for the Valkyries. The Pioneers scored four more first period goals to take a 6-1 lead going into the second quarter. In the first three minutes of the second quarter, Tusculum scored two more goals to bring their lead up to 8-1.

Maia Marquez found Becky Reinhard for the Valkyries second goal of the night with 10:56 to play in the half. Tusculum then scored three unanswered goals before Reinhard scored with just 26 seconds left in the half. Converse went into the halftime break trailing Tusculum 11-3.

Once again in the third quarter, Tusculum scored a pair of goals to begin the period. Zoey Jacobs found Reinhard for her hat trick goal with 1:22 to go in the third period. Tusculum scored once again before the third quarter horn sounded.

Hailey Obenchain scored the first goal of the fourth quarter for the Valkyries. Tusculum responded with a pair of goals to make it 16-5 in favor of the Pioneers. With 2:58 to play in the game, Jacobs found Obenchain for her second goal of the night. One minute later, Ainsley Cua found Reinhard for her fourth goal of the evening. Obenchain scored the final goal of the night, finishing with a hat trick in the process.

Next Up:
The Converse lacrosse team will host their home opener on Monday afternoon against Colorado State Pueblo. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
