Gauthier Joins Women’s Basketball Staff Ahead of 2025-26 Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University athletic department announced Monday the hiring of Brendon Gauthier as the assistant coach to interim head coach Kevin Lyons' staff.

"We are excited to announce Brendon as the next assistant coach in our program," stated Lyons on the addition of Gauthier to his staff. "He has an incredible ability to connect to people and use his gifts to teach the next generation of student athletes! I know he will be a valuable resource for our young women and the Converse Athletic Department."

Gauthier comes to Converse after most recently serving as a graduate assistant coach at Lindsey Wilson University in Columbia, Kentucky. There, he assisted with practice and game planning, developed and taught defensive concepts and helped develop scouting reports for upcoming opponents. He also oversaw the program's skill workouts and weight training program. Gauthier also served as the head coach of the school's JV program.

"I am truly loving Converse! My fellow staff members are awesome and my team is terrific," reflected Gauthier. "We have such a great group of young women who are truly passionate about the game and want to learn and be coached; more importantly, they want to play for and uplift each other. I love the reputation and culture that this program has built for itself and look forward to sharing what that means to future Valks and their families!"

This past season, Lindsey Wilson reached the NAIA national tournament and had two players named all-conference selections. Taylor Guess was a first-team Mid-South All-Conference selection and was twice named the league's Player of the Week.

Prior to his time in Kentucky, Gauthier spent one year working as a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater, Cornell University. He handled many of the same responsibilities, including practice and game preparation, scouting and instruction. He also helped monitor the team's study hall and assisted in the team's recruiting efforts. Gauthier would also occasionally serve as a practice player for the team.

Gauthier graduated from Cornell in May 2021 and will graduate with his master's degree from Lindsey Wilson in May 2026.
