CLEVELAND – For just the second time in program history the Converse University athletic department is ranked in the final Learfield Directors' Cup Standings for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The Valkyries finished with 75 total points for a 189
th place finish in this year's rankings. This is the highest ever finish for the Converse University athletic department. The Valkyries were last featured in the Learfield Cup Standings during the 2022-2023 academic year, when they tallied 25 total points and finished 237
th overall.
Converse accumulated all 75 points during the fall season this academic year. The men's soccer team made it to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history. The Valkyries were seeded fifth overall in the Super Region II and hosted the second round of the tournament at Weisiger Stadium. For their efforts, the Valkyries finished 17
th overall in the tournament and tallied 50 total points.
The volleyball team collected the other 25 points for Converse with a 33
rd place finish in the NCAA Tournament. The Valkyries volleyball team made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history following a Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship. Converse traveled to Wingate as the No. 8 seed in the Southeast Region.
Converse was one of 12 Conference Carolinas teams featured in this years rankings. Finishing ahead of the Valkyries were Belmont Abbey, Mount Olive, Francis Marion, UNC Pembroke, and North Greenville. Converse finished ahead of Emmanuel, Barton, Lees-McRae, Young Harris, King, and Erskine.
